Hamish was called to the bar in June 2016. He appears and provides advice primarily in commercial and international matters, with a focus on building and construction; media; health; insurance; technology; and mining, energy and resources industries, as well as in relation to professional negligence and regulation, insolvency, and private and public international law. He also has an interest in public law, and human rights and discrimination matters.
He is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the Australian Bar Association’s International Committee, and the Bar Association of Queensland’s Business and Consumer Law Committee.
Hamish has undertaken tribunal secretary training with the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and is available for appointments as a tribunal secretary in international and investor-state arbitration.
Prior to being called to the bar, he was the associate to the Honourable Justice JS Douglas and worked as a solicitor in a boutique commercial litigation firm.
He is the chair of Flipside Circus and the secretary of the Matilda Awards, both of which are Queensland based not-for profit arts organisations.
