Kylie Downes QC
Kylie Downes was admitted to the Queensland Bar in 1992 and took silk in 2008.
She is a graduate of the Queensland University of Technology, holding the degree of Bachelor of Laws (with First Class Honours) (1991). After a short period working with the Brisbane firm of Blake Dawson Waldron (now Ashurst), she undertook postgraduate study at Oxford University, graduating with a Bachelor of Civil Law (with Honours) (1993).
Ms Downes has a commercial practice with particular experience in insolvency-related disputes, banking law, construction disputes and intellectual property matters.
She is also a member of the editorial committee of Proctor, Queensland Law Society. Her publications include a regular column in Proctor called Back to Basics.
Ms Downes is listed in The Best Lawyers in Australia 2020 (12th edition) in the areas of Commercial Law, Construction/Infrastructure Law, Corporate Law, Insolvency and Reorganisation Law, Intellectual Property Law and Litigation.
