After obtaining a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from the Queensland University of Technology, Max worked as an associate to Justice Ferguson (now Chief Justice Ferguson) in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Before coming to the bar, Max practised as a solicitor in commercial litigation in Brisbane. Max was called to the Bar in 2016.

Max specialises in commercial disputes, construction disputes, class actions and appeals.

Max has broad experience in Queensland courts and tribunals, the Federal Court, the High Court and various federal and interstate courts and tribunals.

Max has acted for State governments in large class actions, including the matter of Pearson v State of Queensland regarding historical unpaid wages. Max also acts for the State of Western Australia in a similar class action relating to alleged historical underpayment of wages.

Max is a member of the South Pacific Region Legal Education Committee and in 2023 co-presented the Nauru Advocacy Intensive Workshop in Nauru as a guest of the Department of Justice.

In September 2023, Max co-presented the Commercial Litigation Workshop at the Legal Training Institute in Papua New Guinea.
